In a unexpected collaboration that breaks traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Uncovered

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned rituals and fearsome changes reverberate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden cult.

The mission concentrates on "strange tests and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Extra Content

Players who finish the mission will receive an special katana in addition to several items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

Third Free Story Addition

This patch also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series formerly showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
